Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your adventure begins with a 7:30 AM pick-up from your hotel in Arusha, followed by a drive to Tarangire National Park for a full-day safari with picnic lunch. As Tanzania’s third largest park, Tarangire is famous for its giant baobab trees and the Tarangire River, which draws in a remarkable variety of wildlife. The park is well known for hosting some of the largest elephant herds in Africa, and it’s also home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, kudu, giraffes, buffalo, elands, oryx, and zebras. After a rewarding game drive, you’ll proceed to your lodge or tented camp where a warm dinner will be served.
Day 2: Journey to Lake Natron
After breakfast around 8:00 AM, you'll depart with packed lunches heading to the stunning and remote Lake Natron. The drive from Mto wa Mbu/Manyara takes about 3.5 hours. Upon arrival and check-in at your accommodation, you'll enjoy a scenic walking tour along the shores of the lake, guided by a local Maasai. Lake Natron’s shallow, alkaline waters provide the ideal breeding grounds for lesser flamingos up to two million nest here between September and January. After the lakeside exploration, return to your camp/lodge for dinner and a restful evening.
Day 3: Lake Natron to Serengeti National Park
Start the morning early with a light hike to the beautiful Ngare Sero Waterfalls around 6:00 AM, led by a Maasai guide. Enjoy the refreshing mist from the falls before returning to your lodge by 8:30 AM for breakfast. Soon after, begin the drive towards the world-famous Serengeti National Park. This scenic route passes through rural villages, savannah landscapes, and woodlands, with chances to spot wildlife along the way. You’ll arrive at Serengeti in the afternoon and embark on a game drive in the vast plains, known for their rich wildlife and iconic predator sightings. Enjoy a picnic lunch during the drive. The day concludes with dinner and overnight at your lodge in central Serengeti.
Day 4: Exploring Central Serengeti
You can opt for a full-day game drive starting at 9:00 AM with packed lunch or leave as early as 6:00 AM for a sunrise safari followed by breakfast and another drive later in the day. Today, you'll explore the central Serengeti, particularly the Seronera region, celebrated for its incredible concentration of wildlife and year-round water source, the Seronera River. This area teems with lions, leopards, elephants, and many other species. Even outside of migration season, lion prides are commonly seen. After a day full of wildlife encounters and a picnic lunch, you’ll return to camp by evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro
After an early breakfast around 6:30 AM, head out for a morning safari in Serengeti with a packed lunch. Depending on what you’ve already experienced and your interests, your guide will select the best areas for the game drive. Expect more sightings of big cats and other Serengeti residents. By early afternoon, begin your journey to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Your overnight will either be inside the conservation area or in Karatu, depending on your lodge selection. Wrap up the day with dinner and overnight rest.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Tour & Return to Arusha
On your final safari day, you’ll begin with an early breakfast and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater by 6:30 AM. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a haven for diverse wildlife, including elephants, black rhinos, lions, buffalo, hippos, hyenas, and cheetahs. The 5-hour crater floor game drive promises exceptional wildlife viewing, especially around the scenic Hippo Pool where you’ll also enjoy a picnic lunch. After the safari, begin the steep ascent out of the crater and drive approximately four hours back to Arusha. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel or preferred location by 6:00 PM, bringing your unforgettable journey to a close.
