Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After enjoying breakfast at your lodge, your safari guide will collect you for a scenic 3-hour drive to Tarangire National Park, carrying your packed lunch. Tarangire is famed for its incredible birdlife with over 500 species, and large herds of elephants, particularly during the dry season when wildlife congregates near the Tarangire River — the park’s lifeline. Expect to see lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, and many other animals in their natural habitat. Your day ends with a relaxing evening and dinner at the Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View Lodge, a luxury lodge near Karatu with stunning views of the surrounding highlands.

Day 2: Central Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, depart from your lodge and drive through the beautiful Ngorongoro Conservation Area highlands, enjoying views of the famous Ngorongoro Crater on the way. Enter Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering over 15,000 square kilometers and home to over 2 million herbivores and thousands of large predators including lions, leopards, and cheetahs. During this dry season, massive herds of wildebeest and zebra migrate through the park in search of fresh grazing. Game drives continue into the evening in the Seronera Valley area where you might witness predators hunting at sunset. Spend the night in the authentic mid-range tented Matawi Serengeti Camp nestled within the central Serengeti ecosystem.

Day 3: Northern Serengeti National Park

Witness thousands of wildebeest and zebras braving crocodile-infested waters in a spectacular display of nature’s drama. The Northern Serengeti’s rocky outcrops provide perfect vantage points for predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Stay overnight at Kenzan Migration Camp, a comfortable mid-range tented camp inside the park.

Day 4: Northern Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands
Enjoy breakfast followed by a morning game drive in the Northern Serengeti to continue following the migration. The Mara River crossing, one of the most iconic wildlife spectacles, occurs in this region from July to early October, as wildebeest and zebras risk dangerous river currents and crocodiles. Later, drive to the Ngorongoro Highlands and stay again at the luxury Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View Lodge for a peaceful evening with beautiful views.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
After breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s greatest natural wonders formed by a collapsed volcano over 2 million years ago. The crater floor, at 1,800 meters above sea level, shelters approximately 30,000 animals including the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, leopard) and abundant birdlife. Enjoy a full day of game drives with picnic lunch as you explore this unique ecosystem. After your adventure, you will return to Arusha or be dropped off at the airport depending on your travel plans.
