6 Days Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Climbing - 6 days

Tanzania - Climbing Tours

Tour Itinerary
One of the most beautiful and uncrowded routes to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak, is the Lemosho Route. Beautiful vistas and more opportunities to reach the peak are afforded by the longer acclimatization period. The 6-day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Climbing Tour includes four days of hiking through the jungle. Londorossi Gate is the starting point of the climb, which goes on to Shira Ridge, Barranco Camp, Barafu Camp, Stella Point, and Mweka Camp.

Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Big Tree Camp
Traveling from Moshi to Londorossi Gate, where you must finish entry procedures, takes approximately 4 hours. Begin your journey through the lush rainforest, spotting various flora and fauna along the way. Next, moving to the Lemosho trailhead, which will take a another hour to get there. We enjoy lunch at the trailhead before starting our journey through pristine forest that leads to the first campsite.
Day 2: Big Tree Camp to Shira 1 Camp to Moir Hut
Follow the trail to Shira Ridge and Shira I camp, passing through a savannah of heather, grasses, and volcanic rock. There is an amazing view of Kibo Peak. The trail continues east, crossing the Shira plateau and ending at Shira II camp on moorland meadows along a stream. It leads gently east toward the glacier-topped mountain of Kibo. Ascend through rocky terrain and reach Moir Hut, where you can witness stunning views of Mount Meru.
Day 3: Moir Hut to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
From Moir Hut at Lent Hills base, offering acclimatization opportunities through various walks, and explore the Shira Plateau, one of the world's highest plateaus. Experience the alpine desert landscape and conquer the challenging Lava Tower before descending to Barranco Camp.
Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Tackle the famous Barranco Wall and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding glaciers. We ascend a steep, nearly 900-ft cliff from the Barranco Wall, traversing hills and valleys before descending into Karanga Valley and continuing to Karanga Camp. Then Ascend to Barafu Camp, your final camp before the summit push, and prepare for the challenging climb ahead.
Day 5: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
The trek starts at midnight and is physically and mentally draining due to the intense wind and cold. We climb in the dark, pausing sometimes. We see a spectacular dawn above Mawenzi Peak at Stella Point. We arrive at Mount Kilimanjaro's highest summit, Uhuru Peak. We make our way down to Mweka Hut camp, pausing for lunch at Barafu. There may be mist or rain on the rocky trail.
Day 6: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
On our last day, we continue the descent to Mweka Gate and collect the summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. From the gate, we continue another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will meet us at Mweka Village to drive us back to the hotel in Moshi.
